Amid temporary cafe closures, Go Fund Bean is compiling virtual tip jars

The Omicron variant of COVID-19 has proven to be the most contagious yet, with new case numbers in America crossing the million mark last week and continuing to average around 700,000 a day, both records with a wide margin. And although it has so far been shown to be less deadly than previous variants, its rapid spread and high number of cases ultimately led to the same result: thousands of people are dying every day.

This has led many businesses, including cafes, to monitor the health and safety of their workers and temporarily close. But the closures mean few or no hours, which means no income for the cafe or its staff. To help, Go Fund Bean is putting together a list of virtual coffee shop tip jars in America that people can donate to and help their favorite coffee shops through tough times.

Now best known for its work connecting coffee professionals through mentorship programs and providing need-based grants, Go Fund Bean began life amid the first wave of the pandemic, in March 2020, compiling a list ever-growing virtual tip jars for the hundreds of cafes across the country experiencing temporary closures. And now, nearly two years later, with a global pandemic that has no end in sight, they’re back.

In a recent Instagram post, Go Fund Bean appealed to all cafes temporarily closed due to COVID who have created virtual tip jars to help pay their staff. As they did in March 2020, Go Fund Bean will use their platform on Instagram to help boost tip jars to reach more potential donors.

All cafes need to do to have their virtual tip jar released by Go Fund Bean is complete the linked application in their Instagram bio. For more information, visit the official Go Fund Bean website or Instagram.
