Best Air Fryer Green Bean Recipe

Caitlin Bensel

Save valuable time and valuable stovetop space this holiday season by making air fryer green beans. They couldn’t be easier or faster to prepare – just toss them with a small amount of olive oil and seasoning, then add to the basket of an air fryer. The circulating heat of the air fryer helps cook them through, while still having a nice bite. They make a handy Thanksgiving side dish (especially a small Thanksgiving for two!) or a simple pairing for an easy dinner party.

How to cook green beans in an air fryer?

Start by cutting off the ends of the green beans. Just prune the side of the green bean that has a woody stem. The end with the thin string is fine to leave, as long as it’s fresh and green. Place beans in a large bowl and toss with olive oil, seasoned salt and black pepper. Place all the beans in the basket of an air fryer and cook at 375° or 380° Fahrenheit for 10 to 12 minutes, stopping halfway to toss the beans into the basket.

What’s so great about air refried green beans?

Air fryer green beans have a texture similar to refried or blistered green beans, without having to heat a pan. This air fryer recipe is also contrary to what we normally recommend when cooking with an air fryer – it’s Okay to fill the basket! Adding a whole pound of green beans to the basket creates a bit of steam, which helps cook the beans through their center, while retaining some texture and crunch.

what can i serve with air fryer green beans?

Think hearty meat: Thanksgiving turkey, beef tenderloin, or charcoal roast all call for a side dish of deep-fried green beans.

  1. Trim the stem ends of the green beans. (It’s okay to leave the thin string at the end, if it’s still green and fresh.)
  2. Place the beans in a large bowl. Drizzle with olive oil and sprinkle with seasoned salt and black pepper. Mix to coat.
  3. Place the beans in the basket of an air fryer. Cook at 375° for 10 to 12 minutes, shaking the basket halfway through cooking. The beans should be crispy and slightly bubbled when done.
