Catch your own seafood on these fishing charters

Has cruising down the seafood aisle at your local supermarket lost its excitement? Maybe you should consider going straight to the source and making dinner yourself. You don’t need your own boat, or even your own fishing gear, to catch your next meal. Fishing charters along the southern California coast offer sport fishing trips whether you are a seasoned angler or fishing for the first time.

Fishing licenses are required for anglers over 16 years old. Many charters sell permits on site. Bait, rental equipment and fishing tackle are often offered for a separate fee, although they can be included in the trip, as is cleaning the fish caught; contact the specific charter for more information. SAN PEDRO

LONG BEACH

Pierpoint Landing offers a number of rental boats with trips ranging from half a day to overnight, as well as multi-day trips. Prices vary depending on the trip.

Fish vary seasonally, but during the winter months they can be redfish, sculpins and bass; summer months include yellowfin tuna, mahi mahi, and amberjack.

REDONDO BEACH

Redondo Sportfishing offers a variety of fishing trips, including half-day and three-quarter trips, as well as private charters. Prices range from $ 40 to $ 75 depending on the trip, with discounted prices for children, the elderly, and the military. Reservations are recommended for three-quarter day trips.
