Coffee & Climate Initiative to Present Documentary “It’s Bean Too Hot” Daily Coffee News by Roast Magazine


From the trailer to “It’s Been Too Hot,” a documentary film about climate and coffee by Hedvika Michnová.

Initiative for Coffee & Climate (called by the group coffee & climate) released a documentary film entitled “It’s the bean too hot”Which emphasizes climate adaptation among small coffee producers.

Finalist in the Student category of Jackson Wild Media Award 2021, the film was created by Czech filmmaker and photographer Hedvika Michnová, who visited small-scale coffee farmers in Tanzania and Costa Rica who work to protect biodiversity, promote women’s participation and implement agricultural practices smart about the climate.

The movie online premiere is scheduled for Tuesday, September 7, 2021 at 3:00 p.m. CEST. This will be followed by an online meeting with filmmaker and C&C program director Stefan Ruge.

The film is part of the third phase of the C&C pre-competitive initiative, which is implemented by the non-profit Hanns R. Neumann Stiftung.

Membership in the initiative, which dates back to 2010 and is expected to run until 2024, includes some of Europe’s largest coffee roasting and trading companies. Current members include names such as Tchibo, Tim Hortons, Neumann Kaffee Group (NKG), Paulig, Delta Cafés and JM Smucker Co.

Coffee – particularly high-volume conventional coffee grown in full-sun monoculture systems – has historically played an important role in tropical deforestation, resulting losses of plant and animal biodiversity and other environmental degradation over the past century.
