(OBA®) – Orange Beach, AL – The Blue Marlin Grand Championship, known as The Greatest Show in Sportfishing, returns to The Wharf in Orange Beach next week.
More than 60 teams are expected to compete for more than $ 1.5 million in cash prizes. The event is also the final leg of the Gulf Coast Triple Crown Championship. Ten teams still have a chance to win the championship and be crowned the best sport fishing team in the Gulf of Mexico for 2021.
After a very small tournament in 2020 due to the pandemic, this year tournament officials, teams and spectators are all delighted with the return of the giant LED screen, the smoke, the light show, the music. and, of course, flaming marlins on Main Street from the wharf.
All teams will depart via Perdido Pass at noon on Thursday, July 15, creating a must-see spectacle of sport fishing yachts just off the sandy shores of Orange Beach. Once the tournament has started, weigh-ins are free and open to the public on Friday July 16 and Saturday July 17.
If a team embarks a Blue Marlin on Thursday, they will have the opportunity to weigh their fish early Friday morning during a special early bird weigh-in at 7 am at The Wharf. Teams are required to notify tournament officials on Thursday evening if they will bring back a fish on Friday morning.
Regular weigh-ins will take place on Friday evening from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. All teams must return to The Wharf on Saturday night for the final weigh-ins from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. The tournament weigh-ins will be streamed live on the Blue Marlin Grand Championship. site www.bluemarlingrandchampionship.com as well as on the tournament
